Prayer to the Virgin Mary for Protection
O Mary, you shine continuously on our journey as a sign of salvation and hope.
We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick.
At the foot of the Cross, you participated in Jesus’ pain,
with steadfast faith.
You, Our Lady of New York, know what we need.
We are certain that you will provide, so that,
as you did at Cana of Galilee,
joy and feasting might return after this moment of trial.
Help us, Mother of Divine Love,
to conform ourselves to the Father’s will
and to do what Jesus tells us:
He who took our sufferings upon Himself, and bore our sorrows to bring us,
through the Cross, to the joy of the Resurrection. Amen.
We seek refuge under your protection, O Holy Mother of God.
Do not despise our pleas – we who are put to the test – and deliver us from every danger, O glorious and blessed Virgin.
A Student’s Prayer
Lord Jesus, I ask for Your help as I begin this new school year. Allow me to experience Your presence in the many blessings You put before me. Open my eyes to the new challenges and exciting opportunities that this new school year brings. Open my heart and mind to new friends and new teachers. Give me a generous spirit to be enthusiastic with my studies and the courage to accept new opportunities. Help me to be attentive to my teachers and let me experience Your presence in my new friends. Jesus, inspire me to do my best this year. Amen.
A Parent’s Prayer
Lord God, Thank you for the precious gift of my children. I ask you to watch over them and protect them, especially as we begin this new school year. Give them the strength of character as they grow in maturity. Fill their minds with wisdom as they learn and discover new things. Help them to make good decisions that align with the values I have taught them. Fill their hearts with love. Bless their principals and teachers in their important role as my children’s educators. May they know of my appreciation for all they do. I pray, Lord, that my children will be filled with an abundance of your blessings during this new school year. Amen.
