October 1st marks the 50th Anniversary of Walt Disney World! What better way to celebrate than creating our own Pop Art style Mickey's inspired by Romero Britto. We used soft (chalk) pastels. We divided our papers by making lines in different directions around Mickey's head. The students were then able to choose whichever colors they liked and colored in each section a different color. We used our fingers to spread the chalk around the paper. It was messy but tons of fun! The students loved using the soft pastels and their hands to create the art and having Mickey Mouse incorporated into their art was an extra bonus! Anyone who didn't get to outline their Mickey head is encouraged to do so at home using a black colored pencil or black crayon.
