The common core curriculum focuses on three branches of Science:
Earth Science, Life Science and Physical Science, all of which will be implemented to varying degrees at each grade level. Students will apply content and skills learned in science to real life experiences. Providing real life experiences, enables students to develop an awareness of science-based careers and an understanding of how science is relevant to their lives.
As an introduction to Science 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade will all start with Science and Technology, the students will be introduced to how scientists use scientific inquiry and mathematics, and how science, technology and society affect each other. After all three grades complete this lesson each grade will be learning the following areas of Science:
Grading Policy:
20% Classwork/participation
10% Homework
25% Quizzes
45% Sumative Assesment/Tests
Class Rules:
1. Respect yourself, your peers, your teacher, and your surroundings.
2. Raise your hand silently to speak.
3. Follow all directions quickly the first time they are given.
General Guidelines:
*Classroom disruptions are not tolerated and can lead to demerits and/or detention. Being unprepared for class or disrupting the class in any way will affect your classwork/participation grade.
*Late assignments and projects will be marked accordingly (-10 points per day late).
*When you are absent, it is your responsibility to get any notes and make up anything you missed while gone. If you missed a quiz or test, you should be prepared to take it the day you return to school.
*Never hesitate to ask any questions, remember, there is no such thing as a "stupid" question!

Our new STEM lab gives students a place to learn through innovative and exciting ways through four specific disciplines — science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Rather than teach the four disciplines as separate and discrete subjects, STEM integrates them into a cohesive learning paradigm based on real-world applications.
